Store employees are expecting a long line of dissatisfied customers especially after the holiday season since these people are raring the return the gifts they have purchased or received. These items may have been their anniversary gifts or presents during the Christmas season.

The National Retail Federation has provided useful tips for easy returns of gifts in stores:

• Know the store’s return policy. This avoids unnecessary disputes.
• Save the receipt: The items may not be returned if there’s no receipt present. Having the receipt ready avoids unnecessary time of disputing the price of the item and how much should be refunded.
• As much as possible, return all the items including original packaging and parts. Retailers may not accept the items if it lacks something.
• Be patient. It’s understandable that there will be a time frame in processing your requests.
